6 of our Favorite Branches Early Chapter Book Series
Branches chapter books are designed by Scholastic for kids who are ready to read independently and move on from leveled readers. The books are in full color and have many illustrations making them engaging for so many kids! They are a great way to move on from picture pictures and still have the draw of the fully illustrated book! Most of the book series are in full color and 80 pages long.
Owl Diaries
This series is a huge hit our house! D wanted me to preorder them so we could get them as soon as they were released! As of now, there are 21 books…. I believe the series is finished, but only the author knows for sure!
Time Jumpers
This series has only four books but they are definitely worth picking up! Two kids find a suitcase full of unique objects…. They pick up and examine one and are suddenly transported to a different time in history! These are a good entry into series such as the Magic Tree House.
Eerie Elementary
This series has 10 books and has plenty of action even though it is in black and white, not color! Sam discovers his school is alive…. Can he help his classmate and survive? There are silly situations throughout the series including a kid eating locker, a gym that turns into a volcano and grass and trees that come live! There are 96 pages in each book making them longer than some other series in the branches line of books.
Dragon Masters
So far there are 30 books in this series but they are not in color. This series is perfect for kids who are a bit too young for Harry Potter but still enjoy the magical realm. There is a king, dragons, magic and friendship. What will the Dragon Masters in training come across? What could possibly happen along the way?! This series is also in black and white with 96 pages in each book.
Boris
With only four books in this series, it is quick to get through. Who doesn’t like the idea of a warthog as a main character, how often does that happen?! Boris wants an adventure, what type of adventures will he get into? Tag along on his adventure during field day, moving to a new place, getting a pet lizard and see weird lights outside his tent. Boris is just a lovable character!
Princess Pink and the Land of Fake Believe
A princess who does not like pink, is transported into the land of Fake Belief…. But she magically has pink hair! This is a fun series of four books that reimagines some classic fairytales. I have always been drawn to reimagined fairytale stories. There is somethings so fun about seeing characters in a different way. That maybe why Princess Pink is such a cool character, she is a tough non-princess type of character that meets some fan favorites along the way! These books are by far Ds favorite of the branches series!
